Slant Roof Barrier

The Hale Slant Roof Security Barrier™ (patent pending) is designed to be installed directly in front of the pet door, obstructing the view of the pet door as well as blocking human access. It is very similar to our Hale Flat Roof Security Barrier™ and they are designed to have interchangable roofs so you can choose whichever design is right for you. While the flat roof barrier can be used or camouflaged in various ways, the sloping roof design on this model is equally attractive, resembling a wood box and it helps deflect any water away from the house and into your yard.

The barrier is designed so that the dog enters from the side on the open end (available on either end–see pictures at left) and must turn to use the pet door. An animal can wind its way through but the limited space and angle of entry make it extremely difficult if not impossible for a human to access the pet door.

This wood model is constructed of 7⁄8" cedar boards. It can be ordered (at no extra charge) prestained in a natural cedar color or left unpainted and unstained. The barrier could then be finished upon installation in whatever manner you desire (i.e. to match the exact paint and trim colors of the people house or in any other exterior finish required—such as stucco).

The barrier can either be attached directly to the house wall or anchored into the ground next to the house. It is available in ten standard sizes to complement our entire line of pet door sizes. The base model can come with or without a wooden floor (see right picture below) at no additional charge and is designed to be placed on the ground next to your house. (pictured above) If your pet door is installed too high in your wall for this option to work, we do offer a supplementary feature which includes adjustable legs and a raised internal floor (see rear view center picture below)) to enable the dog house to line up correctly with your pet door opening. When ordering the raised height floor, a wooden skirt is added to the dog house so that the sides of the dog house reach the ground while the interior floor and passageway are above ground level. We also offer an optional ramp for ease of access for your pet.(see left picture below)

The slant roof security barrier is also available with an optional pet door frame and flap. (see left picture in top row above) This is available in any of our four standard pet door frame colors. If you add a pet door frame, you may also choose from three flap colors, clear, black or white.

The Security Barrier is designed to be difficult for an intruder to remove thus making it nearly impossible for a human to access the house through the pet door. It is equipped with a false top that comes with an optional alarm installed for added protection. When combined with the Hale Cat Guardian™, it also deters unwanted cats or wild animals from entering the house through the pet door. NOTE: The Cat Guardian requires the addition of an exterior pet door frame to the security barrier.

Additional Security Options Available:

The Hale Security Barrier™ is designed with a false top that can trigger an alarm if someone tries to move the barrier. (It can also be installed without an alarm if desired.)

The simplest option is the small included battery operated alarm that sounds for approximately 90 sesconds if the top is removed. It is designed to be turned on and off with a key. (shown to the right)

Other available alarm options include tying the Security Barrier into your home alarm system or fitting the barrier with a motion detector or electronic beam. These can be set to trigger if a person larger or taller than your dog approaches the security barrier.

As an additional option to protect against intrusion from wild animals or outdoor cats, a Hale Cat Guardian™ can be attached to the security barrier directly inside the open end of the barrier. If an animal other than a dog attempts to enter, they will do so in a manner different from a trained dog. This will cause the alarm on the Cat Guardian to sound and generally deter them from entering. An additional beam placed at "people" height could also be set to trigger an alarm should a person attempt to crawl through to the pet door.

Central Security Divider

One outstanding feature of the security barrier is the inclusion of a sturdy center divider that blocks visual and physical access to the pet door. This means that a human would not even be able to see that there is a pet door in the house wall and would not be able to access it. The barrier and divider are designed so that a dog can weave through the barrier and access the pet door while a human cannot bend in that manner. The divider itself is made in either one or two pieces that can be adjusted into different positions to accommodate stockier or leaner dogs. Obviously the wider the divider, the more difficult it would be for a human to fit between the divider and the side of the dog house. The standard wooden barrier comes with a wooden security divider. Its size and placement vary depending on the size of barrier ordered. (See the picture to the left.)
