Notes:Our mission: Pets In Need’s mission is to rescue dogs and cats that are in danger of being killed in public facilities and find them new, loving homes. Pets In Need was established in 1965 with one goal: to save the lives of animals in need. We are Northern California’s first “No-Kill” animal shelter, which means that we place into loving homes all dogs and cats that come through our doors. Every week, Pets In Need staff members visit Bay Area public facilities to rescue animals at risk of being euthanized due to space or financial limitations. Our medical team evaluates the health and well-being of each dog and cat brought into the shelter prior to putting it up for adoption. Spaying, neutering, vaccinations and other medical care is given the first week an animal is in our shelter. Additionally, our animal care staff immediately go to work to address behavior issues and develop a better understanding of each of our animals. In the meantime, our dedicated staff and volunteers work together to socialize the animals, give them the care and attention they need, and find new homes where they will survive and thrive.
