Operation Greyhound is a non-profit, tax exempt, 501(c)(3) organization that is managed by volunteer directors. The organization is totally public supported. It is dedicated to the rescue and adoption of racing greyhounds, and the promotion of public awareness to the plight of the greyhounds. The organization has adopted out over 2,600 greyhounds in the past 15 years. It has facilities for 21 greyhounds and has a constant waiting list for incoming greyhounds. We estimate that currently 20,000 greyhounds are rescued annually from the racing industry, with an estimated 15,000 killed in the United States.
