When to choose a screen dog door

A screen install keeps the breeze and the bugs where they belong.

Pick the Screen Model when pets need access through a screened porch, lanai, screen door or sidelight.

A screen dog door lets pets move between the house and a screened space without leaving the people door propped open. The Screen Model is the most common Hale option for lanais, screen porches and sidelights. If no screened opening is in the right place, compare the door-mounted dog door and the wall dog door instead.

Before you order, measure the screen frame thickness and decide which lower corner will hold the pet door. Frames 1/2 inch thick or less use the standard Screen Model and stay fully reversible. For thicker frames, or when the door sits in the middle of the mesh, see the Universal Screen Model. The Screen Model is not designed for security doors; use a Door Model there. Read the Screen Model installation instructions before cutting, or use the dealer locator to find an installer.
