Rescue Rewards Group of the Week - December 5, 2011

Golden Retriever Rescue Southern Nevada LogoOur featured rescue group this week is Golden Retriever Rescue Southern Nevada.  This is a volunteer based, non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to providing new beginnings for displaced Golden Retrievers in Las Vegas and the surrounding area. Goldens come into GRRSN for a variety of reasons. The group’s goal is to place rescued Golden Retrievers in adoptive homes where they will receive the love and care they so deserve.

GRRSN was founded in 2003 and since that time has helped 1,070 dogs!  As of Dec. 1, they have helped 135 for 2011.  Running a rescue like this and making sure all the dogs receive the love, support and veterinary care needed can be a daunting task.  Since 2003, a total of $237,000 has gone to vet care.

Like all rescue groups around the country, GRRSN is doing its best to keep with the ever-growing demand to help pets in need.  If you live in the Las Vegas area and have ever thought about adopting a Golden, please go to their website learn more.  In the meantime, here are two darling Santa Paws dogs waiting for loving homes.

Patty, golden retriever available for adoption from GRRSNPatty

Patty is a very sweet and happy 9 year old red-headed lady! She loves everyone she meets and will stick to you like glue, just hoping to get constant pets.  Patty is in good health and doesn't take any medication, but she does require a special food that is more gentle on her kidneys than other food.  Patty enjoys going for a daily walk, loves swimming and riding in the car, and she gets along perfectly with children, other dogs, and even cats! What more could you ask for than the perfect, loving companionship of this very sweet girl!

Bronco, golden retriever available for adoption from GRRSNBronco

Bronco is a very lucky boy! Prior to coming to GRRSN, Bronco was made to live outdoors and flies had chewed the tip of his ear. If the weather had been any warmer, the flies would have eaten his ear up for sure. Poor Bronco not only had to endure a painful open wound, he had infections in both ears, too. His veterinarian prescribed tablets and salve. Bronco has healed nicely and his ear infections are gone. He is super nice and loves to just lay by you. He will surely make someone very happy in a new home! Bronco is estimated to be about 4-1/2 years old and is the perfect size at 47 pounds.

Foster Update on 11/14/11: Bronco is such a GOOD boy!!! He has been the perfect house guest and has very good manners. He gets along great with their resident dog and ignores the cat. The best part of all are the sweet, soft kisses Bronco loves to give!!
